As part of the fourth scheduled points meet at Greenfield Dragway, details are now finalized for the annual Super Saturday Bracket Bash on August 16th. This event celebrates the anniversary of the track opening and draws more attention each year as racers look for their share of the largest single pay-day in Atlantic Canada. Here are the Super Saturday specifics and payout structure examples (keeping in mind the # of entries will change the purse for the winner and runner-up. Semi, quarter and round of 16 payouts are set and guaranteed amounts).
- Two classes: Box and No Box
- Open to all race vehicles, including motorcycle and snowmobile
- Entry fee is $40
- First round losers can buy-back into race for $20
- Round 1 winners will run off separately in round 2
- Buy-back vehicles will run off separately in round 2
- All round 2 winners will run together in round 3
- All entry fee, buy-back and sponsor money is paid-out
- Payouts extend back to round of 16!
- Junior dragster gamblers with increased prizing, $5 entry
- Racer's appreciation BBQ Saturday evening
In both classes semi-final losers win $400, quarter-final losers get $200 and round of 16 losers earn $100 each. These are guaranteed amounts regardless of car count. The remaining funds are split with 70% to the winner and 30% to the runner-up in each class. Also, the sponsorship money is split 60/40 between Box and No Box.
Here are two examples based on a reasonable # of entries:
Box Class with 50 entries:
50 entries x $40= $2000 Estimated 15 buy-backs x $20= $300 Sponsor funds (60% of $8500) = $5100
Total purse in Box = $7400
*Box winner: $3500 * Runner-up: $1500 Semi-final losers: $400 Quarter-final losers: $200 Round of 16 (or less) losers: $100 * Will vary based on # of entries and buy-backs
No Box Class with 70 entries:
70 entries x $40= $2800 Estimated 25 buy-backs x $20= $500 Sponsor funds (40% of $8500) = $3400
Total purse in No Box = $6700
*No Box winner: $3010 *Runner-up: $1290 Semi-final losers: $400 Quarter-final losers: $200 Round of 16 (or less) losers: $100 *Will vary based on # of entries and buy-backs
