Last week we announced that we will be holding our annual meeting, March 29th at the Bridgewater Legion. How is this relevant you ask? If you’re already a member of the Nova Scotia Drag Racers Association your input is important! If you’re not already a member, you should be! This goes for racers and dedicated fans alike!
There are a few reasons why being a member of our association is beneficial to you and the organization both. In previous years it was optional for racers to be members of the NSDRA and race in the Greenfield Dragway point’s series, as of our last general meeting it was voted that any drivers racing for points would also be required to be a member of the NSDRA. What does this mean for racers, simple, $20 will get you a year membership and for an additional $10 you will be entered into the 2018 points series! What about those interested in supporting the association by becoming a member, but do not race, it will be only $20 for a year membership!
Well after a dismal season of weather out at Greenfield dragway, racers and spectators were hopeful for a great season finale…and boy did their wish come true. Other than lingering morning fog, everyone was treated to some fantastic September weather and a great show. With a total of 239 entries, 1616 runs down the 1320 and packed stands stands both days; what a finish it was!
The weekend schedule featured the annual bracket bash which was held over from the cancelled August event and the ADRA Team Race on Saturday, followed by the ADRA and Greenfield Drag Racing Series on Sunday.
NSDRA is happy to announce the details for the fifth and final event at Greenfield Dragway set for September 22-24. This has been a tough season for all tracks around the Maritimes this summer so we are anxious to end our season on a high note. Hi-lights for the upcoming race include extended time trials on Friday, the ADRA Team race AND the Annual Bracket Bash on Saturday and then the ADRA & Greenfield points race on Sunday. It’s a full slate of racing action and a great way to close out the season!
Based on available weather information the NSDRA executive feels that the probability of completing any race activities this weekend is very unlikely.
Therefore, this weekend’s (Aug. 18-20) race is CANCELED.
Plans for the Bracket Bash race are being worked on and there will be an announcement in the near future.
Race number three of the Greenfield drag race series was contested over the weekend with a total of 110 entries for the event. Friday evening time trials were rain-shortened and persistent showers delayed the start time until 1pm on Saturday.
Saturday’s action included a No Box gamblers, Box gamblers, junior gamblers and open time trials later in the afternoon. Here are the gambler results:
